Do you ever find yourself wondering whether the world holds more complexities within its fabric than we can ever gauge or comprehend?

In this project, I sought out traces of humanity underneath lion skin. I watched them in their natural habitat, undisturbed and unawake.

Lions seem to dream the same dreams as us, caught up in nightly visions. in this natural state, there is something very human in them.

Awake lions are no different — I inverted the colours of their portraits, thus bringing out their remarkably human eyes.

That’s where l saw a glimpse of consciousness.

Self-consciousness has been said to be a quantitative rather than qualitative property across species.

Put simply, some are more human than others — I hope to show you just how close lions come to being among us.
